Training when you are sick
Is autumn the weather is changing from cold to hot , so the possibility of getting sick is high specially cold and a lot of you wonder if he could still hit the gym or do some exercisers while he's sick ,and wonder it will help him get better or getting worse ?
So it might surprise the answer but it depend on you and on your illness level and he symptoms you have like cold or flue , and there is and very commune and famous called the neck test or in other word if the symptoms are above the neck like headache sneezing or something like that so you can train but do not train like you use to do lower the volume and the intensity of your training , that a thing secondly for the cardio its better to avoid HIIT because it will rise you body temperature and that last thing you want to get when you are sick so just go a light running or light bike ride outside .
Now if the symptoms are under the neck like fever or pain in the joint or fatigue and you can't do your regular activity easily so now it better to you to not workout and let your body to rest and if the symptoms goes worse for the next week it better to you to go and see a doctor because when you are sick don't just jump quickly to the doctor let the immunity system work and do it job give him some time an d proper food and a lot of water ,and by talking about the immunity i should add that high training session that are above 90 minutes can decrease the immunity system work and we notice this in the marathon athletes that a lot of them they got sick after a marathon and in a study shows that the athletes who run more than 60 miles a week got sick more than the athletes who run just about 20 miles a week , so to help your immunity system when you are sick it's better to you to lighter about 30 minutes workout and less volume for example for the ones who do resistance exercises you keep the same weight but do less rep and less sets and do just the compound movement , for the body-weight athlete you can do just a couple of sets not too much complicated routine .
So If your illness are serious about digestion or something else so it better to be off gym and take rest , so the general idea here that you can now if it's ok to work out or not if it's fever so avoid it if its just regular cold without complicated symptoms like fever it's ok , and if you are luck of energy and not like always but you can do the usual routine like going to school or to work do some task you used to do like shopping or walking back home so it mean that it's ok to move a little bit in the gym around 30 minutes for low volume .
In the end i guess you've know that you can know the answer by listening to your body if it's ok or not to workout
