Rest from working out
In every sports all athlete need a rest period to rest their mind and body and let them heals and today we will talk about this rest period how should it be and how long ?
So first thing to talk about is that rest day are very important to let our body to heal and let our muscles to grow stronger and bigger and whatever your goals is, endurance , strength , hypertrophy or some else you need a rest day and it a very important thing in your workout schedule as important as working out , because the muscles grow in the rest days and build theme selves in the rest days without forgetting the impact of our nutrition , and most of athlete take a period off not just a day off and this period come after a long season of hard working for example for bodybuilding they take this off days after their Mr Olympia competition and for other athlete like basketball or football they take this days off after the end of the season .
There is a lot of talking around his rest period but the most of the people think that these athlete stop doing any sort of exercises ,and this fact is true and false and let me explain to you why first know that our body are designed to move and average begun to loss muscle after two to three week and his cardio level will go lower after just one week from stop exercises ,it mean that if you stop exercising for a long period like a month or longer it will be hard for you to be back to your level even if there is something called muscles memory that allow muscles to regain there level faster than the new one but for an athlete it will be better to go on higher level than stay the same so for that reason there period off contain some exercises not as the same intensity but they will do some work to keep their level high like some cardio and resistance exercises to maintain their level or to don't loss too much tempo for example for a bodybuilder it lifter lighter weight than he use to lift for a period of 2 to three weeks and then they will back to their regular plan .
So for you it deepens on your activity but in general the idea of complete off is not right so for your maximum period off is one week without doing a thing to not loss your fitness level and for more than a week you can go lighter than you use to do in the weight you use to lift in the intensity or in the volume but for the cardio for my personal advise i'll say to not go lighter than 5 to 10 % less than the usual because your cardiovascular is really important for your overall health , and for the food it will be the same amount no changes .
In the end the rest is very important to your body but do not take a long break till you loss your tempo and you get stuck in your conformable zone in rest but you should take a short break once a while .
